Forty-six-year-old David was a carpenter who suffered a stroke, resulting in severe limitations on the right side of his body. He was no longer able to do his carpenter job with these new limitations but was denied his claim for social security disability benefits. Complications caused him to also fail to file an appeal, making his case even weaker. Luckily, Social Security Disability Lawyer Patrick Hartwig was able to help David.
When David first went to Patrick for help, he had just undergone a stroke and was unable to work. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to make his brain surgery because of a subsequent heart attack. Because of all of this rapid progression, David failed to file a social Security disability appeal. Patrick encouraged David to file a brand-new claim to try to get the benefits he desperately needed.
During David’s hearing, Patrick was able to convince the judge to reopen David’s first claim so that he would be approved for benefits going back to the day of David’s stroke.
In the end, the judge realized David was clearly someone who would not be able to return to work on a full-time basis and approved David for disability benefits going back to the date of his stroke. We were able to reopen the claim, and David was fortunate enough to receive about two years of retroactive benefits.
That’s the story of how Patrick Hartwig helped David get his deserved disability benefits.
